Bodrum to Göcek

The classic western Aegean passage. Ancient ruins, pine-covered islands, hidden coves that don’t appear on the tourist maps. Seven days the way this coast was meant to be seen.

ANCHORAGES
THE ROUTE
Bodrum, Datça, Bozburun, Marmaris Bay, Ekincik, Göcek Islands, Göcek

01

Bodrum

Arrival & Departure

Board in Bodrum marina in the early afternoon. The captain briefs the route over the first evening’s anchorage — usually Karaada, the thermal spring island, twenty minutes from port.

02

Datça Peninsula

Knidos & the Ancient Harbour

Sail west through the Datça channel. Anchor at Knidos for the afternoon — a Hellenistic city that once held Praxiteles’ Aphrodite, now a quiet ruin above the water.

03

Bozburun

The Boatbuilding Village

Overnight in Bozburun village. The gulets moored here were likely built within walking distance. Dinner at a restaurant where the fish comes in before noon and the menu changes accordingly.

04

Marmaris Bay

Rest Day — Swimming & Toys

An anchor day in a protected bay. The water toys come out. The afternoon belongs to whoever wants it. This is what the boat was built for.

05

Ekincik

Dalyan River & Lycian Tombs

Morning sail to Ekincik. Tender up the Dalyan River to the rock-cut Lycian tombs — some of the most dramatic funerary architecture in the ancient world.

06

Göcek Islands

The Twelve Islands

Into the Göcek archipelago. Anchor in a different bay each hour if you want — the islands here are too numerous to rush. Overnight on the water, far from any marina.

07

Göcek

Disembarkation

Morning in Göcek marina. Transfers arranged. The captain has already begun thinking about the return leg — which is, traditionally, better than the first.
